As part of the Pierre Fabre Research and Development Center at the Toulouse Oncopole campus, the research and development hub for dermo-cosmetic active substances brings together researchers with a range of expertises. The team’s objective is to identify and develop innovative active substances and to validate their efficacy for use in dermo-cosmetic products. They cooperate with, among others, the Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris VI) and the CNRS as part of a mixed research team located at the Oceanological Observatory in Banyuls-sur-Mer (on the Mediterranean Sea).

PIERRE FABRE DERMO-COSMETIC RESEARCH CENTER

The Vigoulet-Auzil R&D Center, near Toulouse, and the pilot workshop at Soual aim to develop, from the laboratory all the way to the industrial phase, products that respond to the expectations of the dermo-cosmetic market and its clients. About 150 formulae that meet the strictest regulatory and safety requirements are developed in Vigoulet each year to be put on the market.

SKIN RESEARCH CENTER

The Clinical Research and Development Center located at the Hôtel-Dieu-Saint-Jacques in Toulouse aims to understand the physiology of normal skin and the biological, physico-chemical and mechanical mechanisms involved in skin disorders. It includes a Clinical Investigation Center, where skin exploration techniques are leveraged and used to evaluate the clinical phenomena observed during studies, as well as a Cosmetovigilance department. Nearly 900 clinical studies are conducted each year.

WATER LABORATORY

The Water Laboratory opened at the Avène hydrotherapy station in 2008. Its objective is to control the quality of Avène thermal spring water (bacteriology and physico-chemistry), to contribute to the understanding of geology and of the Avène Spring thermal water's pharmacological activity, and to share this knowledge with the public at large, whether healthcare specialists (pharmacists, dermatologists), patients or academics.
