Organic certification for our hamamelis virginiana
September 28, 2012
Our Bagnères-de-Bigorre site has been awarded an organic certification from ECOCERT for its hamamelis virginiana plantations. This is the first step in a process that will culminate in the production of an organic witch-hazel extract.
Located at Bagnères-de-Bigorre, our active substance production unit is proud of its roots and 60 years of experience devoted to plant raw materials, including hamamelis virginiana. The production chain for hamamelis virginiana (obtaining active substances and distilled water) is managed successfully from the plantations to the active substance phase; plantations and fields are maintained naturally, with no chemicals or additives used; the use of fresh material (in summer and winter) follows the plant’s natural cycle; extraction procedures use green solvents; our knowledge of the plant is increased with the help of Botanical Expertise Pierre Fabre .
Rigorousness, professionalism and traceability make this site a major tool in evaluating natural active substances. From extraction to packaging, up-to-date technologies are used to preserve the plant’s innate active substance.
After three years of transformation*, our Bagnères-de-Bigorre site was certified as organic in August by ECOCERT for its hamamelis virginiana plantations. This is the first step in a process that will culminate in the production of an organic witch-hazel extract.
* Transformation from conventional to organic agriculture.
