Pierre Fabre Laboratories present the Grand Prize for eHealth Awards

July 8, 2014

As part of the 8th edition of the eHealth Summer University, Pierre Fabre Laboratories presented the Grand Prize for eHealth Awards to Millinav on July 3 for its bionic knee prosthesis.

The eHealth Summer University, organized in Castres each year by Castres-Mazamet Technopole and the Centre e-santé/Platinnes, brings together over 500 participants, stakeholders and decision-makers from the health care, social and technological innovation sectors to discuss the practice, technologies and applications for use of ICT in the field of health and well-being. For 8 years, the eHealth Summer University has been the venue where the outlines of tomorrow's health care take shape. By highlighting the most innovative and meaningful projects, the eHealth Awards allow us to discover what the future holds for medicine, prevention and well-being.

Pierre Fabre Laboratories have been partners of this event since the beginning, presenting the Grand Prize each year. This year, the Grand Prize was presented to Millinav for its bionic, pro-active knee prosthesis for transfemoral amputees. This prosthesis, designed for above-knee amputees, helps to restore normal locomotive functions thanks to its electric motor and sensor. A microprocessor allows the wearer to control the prosthesis in an intuitive manner. It is a major innovation that connects digital technology, through embedded software, to a medical issue, by allowing people who had lost their mobility to regain it. For the jury of the Awards, this prosthesis brings robotics right into the core of health care applications.
