Institut Pierre Fabre de Tabacologie
(IPFT - Pierre Fabre Tabacology Institute) launches the first edition of its Innovation Prize, which will reward the most innovative project that offers a genuine improvement in smoking cessation treatment

Castres, 18 October 2018 – From October 2018, the Pierre Fabre Tabacology Institute is launching the recruitment campaign for its first Innovation Prize. This competition aims to discover and support an innovative project that will improve prevention of tobacco dependence and smoking cessation treatment, in order to benefit healthcare professionals and patients.

« Tobacco use is the primary cause of preventable deaths in France, therefore helping patients to stop smoking is an absolute priority. By introducing this Innovation Prize, our aim is to offer greater support to smokers who decide they want to be free of their tobacco addiction, thus making the process of quitting easier and optimizing their chances of success. The Innovation Prize is open to all innovative submissions from scientists, SMEs, healthcare professionals or patients that can contribute to the prevention of tobacco dependence and improvements in professional practice.» explains Dr. Etienne André, of the Pierre Fabre Tabacology Institute (IPFT).

The project is open to individuals or groups (healthcare facilities, academic research institutions, associations and companies) and concerns the prevention of tobacco dependence or help with smoking cessation. The deadline for submissions is 18 December 2018. After careful review of project files and interviews with applicants, the prize will be awarded in February 2019. The winner will receive a prize of 5,000 euros. Depending on the type of proposal and the needs of those submitting the project, the winner may receive guidance from experts at the Pierre Fabre Laboratories, in order to successfully complete the various stages of project development.

The jury will be supported by the IPFT scientific committee and will be chaired by Dr. Anne Laurence Le Faou, President of the French Society of Tabacology.
