Pierre Fabre & Avène launch MySun Experience, a simulator to revolutionize the prevention of sun-related skin aging
The tool confirms that the correct use of a sun product (SPF30+) could reduce photoaging by up to 50% in some cases.
In 15 years, it will be possible to reduce photoaging for people who follow the prevention advice of the tool:
- by 6 years for a 24-year-old French woman with fair skin,
- by 4 years for a 30-year-old German man with fair skin,
- by 7 years for a 45-year-old Mexican woman with dark skin.
Following the success of the SAFE program conducted in 2024, Pierre Fabre Laboratories and its brand Eau Thermale Avène are launching a new experience for younger generations to raise awareness of the dangers of sun exposure through an innovative simulation.
Imagine a tool that not only applies a filter showing you an older version of yourself but actually predicts the aging of your skin based on your sun protection habits. MySun Experience is this innovation. It is a scientific approach that relies on reliable data and advanced predictive models to offer a personalized experience.
MySun Experience is not an ordinary calculator. It is the result of extensive research and uses behavioral data from the ALL1 study, which involved 50,000 participants from 20 countries. Climate forecasts come from the IPCC2, which includes researchers from 195 countries. Data on the prevalence of skin cancers is provided by GLOBOCAN3, accessible in open data.
Jonathan Serafini, founder of DATA ORA, a pioneering company in artificial intelligence, has developed the predictive model. He explains:
The algorithm is built on identified factors, in scientific publications such as age, sex, phototype, latitude, exposure hours, use of sun protection... It is capable for the first time of predicting sun-related skin aging.

But what is a predictive model? It is the creation of an algorithm that learns from past data and is capable, based on this, of predicting future data!
Pascale Benaksas, president of the FACP association, adds:
This is a major advancement for prevention. Melanoma is one of the most preventable cancers, yet the messages against the dangers of the sun and early skin aging due to unprotected exposure are not resonating enough, particularly with young people who will face increased sunlight exposure rates. This tool helps convey the message.

And this is just the beginning as we are already planning to enrich the model with other factors in partnership with dermatology specialists to predict the aging mechanisms at play in order to respond more individually.

About SAFE:
As part of its program dedicated to risks related to sun exposure, SAFE (Sun Assessment Family Experience), Pierre Fabre Laboratories launched a consultation with French, Spanish, and German students to imagine new ways to approach melanoma prevention. Indeed, melanoma is one of the most common cancers in Europe among young adults. Its incidence has doubled in France and Germany in 20 years. However, the ALL study conducted in 20 countries with 50,000 participants showed that among 16-34-year-olds, 1 in 2 expose themselves during the hottest hours and 3 in 4 do not reapply sunscreen every 2 hours.
