•    Could you please introduce yourself?
Hello, I am Anne-Sophie Paradis. I’m 37 years old. I’m a pharmacist from France, and I have worked as an MSL for Pierre Fabre for nearly 2 years.

•    What is your professional background before being an MSL?
I previously worked in the pharmaceutical industry, mainly in clinical trials. I started as clinical research associate and evolved later to a clinical project manager position.

•    How would you define the MSL role?
The MSL is the scientific local key contact for the healthcare professionals of certain diseases, and the link with the pharmaceutical company. His role is to identify medical needs and support the building of scientific projects to help improve patient care.

•    What do you like about being an MSL?
What I like the most about being an MSL is to build scientific collaboration with healthcare professionals, have various scientific and medical discussions, and projects depending on healthcare professional needs.

•    What is the most difficult thing for you about being an MSL?
Administrative work, which is also an important part of the job.

•    What is the essential quality of an MSL for you?
In my opinion, adaptability is the essential quality of an MSL.

•    What motivates you to get up in the morning as an MSL?
I am motivated by scientific and medical discussions with Key Opinion Leaders, strategic involvement, by learning about medical news and by collaborating on medical projects to improve patient care.

•    What is your most beautiful emotion experienced as an MSL?
Job fulfillment. Following a multidisciplinary meeting I organized, when health care professionals shared their practices, they told me they were satisfied about the content of the meeting. And what’s more, that they were willing to participate to the same kind of meeting next year.

•    Any words or advice for someone wanting to become an MSL?
I would advise to have good relationship, rigor and adaptability skills, to be open-minded and to work on the field in order to have a good understanding of hospital structure.
