• Could you please introduce yourself?
Hello, my name is Jerry Liu. I’m 37 years old. I’ve been with Pierre Fabre Taiwan as MSL for four months. The area I’m responsible for is BRAF-mutant solid tumors.
• What is your professional background before being an MSL?
I have a PhD in Immunology. So, I'm familiar with autoimmune diseases like SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus). Before joining Pierre Fabre, I worked at a genetic testing company providing services for cancer patients. It equips me with knowledge of molecular biology, and disease background for solid tumors.
• How would you define the MSL role?
The key mission of MSL is adapting the development of new drugs or indications to the clinical practice of patient treatment.
• What do you like about being an MSL?
I have the chance to deliver medical information to clinicians, understand their clinical needs, and address any scientific inquiries they may have. These will support their decision-making in patient care.
• What is the most difficult thing for you about being an MSL?
We must be experts in the field for which we are responsible for. So continue to learn about diseases and keep uptake of new knowledge is a necessary but a challenging task for an MSL.
• What is the essential quality of an MSL for you?
Good organizing skills, good presentation skills, and good communication skills.
• What motivates you to get up in the morning as an MSL?
There are so many things that are worth learning and strength myself. And I have the chance to deal with them. So, I can always be better and stronger than yesterday.
• What is your most beautiful emotion experienced as an MSL?
The most beautiful emotion I have experienced should be the sense of achievement. Especially when you earn the trust of the healthcare professionals through your professionalism. When the clinician proactively discusses the issues they face in real-world practice with you.
• Any words or advice for someone wanting to become an MSL?
MSL is a challenging role because you will face and encounter many healthcare professionals and cross-function teams of different types. But if you like to learn and interact with people, don't hesitate to join. You will love it.
