Laboratoires Pierre Fabre partner up with the FRACs

Our company, which is involved in the cultural development and influence of the Midi-Pyrénées region, has partnered up with the FRACs to celebrate their 30th anniversary. The Toulouse modern art museum Les Abattoirs is hosting the national exhibition that forms part of these celebrations until 5 January 2014.

The FRACs: 30 years in existence
The role of the Fonds Régionaux d'Art Contemporains (FRACs - regional modern art collections), celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2013, is to introduce today's art to a wider audience. The grand finale of a year celebrating the event in the 23 French regions is a large national exhibition organised at Les Abattoirs in Toulouse. This exhibition, named Les Pléiades, groups together a selection of works on loan from the 23 FRACs, chosen by 26 artists and curators from among the 26,000 works that the FRACs have in their possession – one of the largest modern art collections in the world.

Les Reflets: exhibition of an emblematic work at Toulouse Matabiau station
Since 20 September 2013 and until 5 January 2014, visitors to Toulouse Matabiau station will discover Les Reflets (reflections) by the artist Franck Scurti: ten luminescent shop signs installed on the "Départ", "Arrivée" and "Quai n°1" fronts of the most visited public place in the Midi-Pyrénées region, which welcomes 9 million travellers each year. An eleventh sign has been placed on the front of the media library at Les Abattoirs, like a trail of breadcrumbs linking the station to the Pléiades exhibition. This eleventh sign, that of a pharmacy, was at the root of Franck Scurti's project, when he observed the edges of the green pharmacy cross reflecting in a puddle of rainwater. This starting point resonates with our company's history, which began over 50 years ago in Mr Pierre Fabre's pharmacy on place Jean-Jaurès, in Castres.

Laboratoires Pierre Fabre: patrons at the heart of their region
In the tribute that she gave to Mr Pierre Fabre last July, Aurélie Filippetti, the French Minister for Culture and Communication, spoke of "a man with a heart, a man of action, the great patron [that he was] with elegance and discretion" at the service of the cultural development and influence of his home region. Our business is therefore partnered with a large number of cultural institutions in Toulouse, Castres, Albi and Sorèze, and it is natural that we join forces with Les Abattoirs in Toulouse for the FRACs 30th anniversary. We are thus patrons of the Pléiades exhibition and the exclusive patron of Les Reflets, in partnership with the SNCF (France’s national rail company).
