•    Could you please introduce yourself?
Hi, my name is Selina Jansky. I’m 31 years old and I live and work in Germany. I joined Pierre Fabre as an MSL about 1,5 years ago.

•    What is your professional background before being an MSL?
I’m a molecular biologist by training and before starting as an MSL, I worked at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, for my PhD and Postdoc.

•    How would you define the MSL role?
MSL is the direct link between pharmaceutical companies and healthcare professionals. And he contributes to this exchange by discussing current scientific and clinical data, but also by collecting insights from daily clinical practice.

•    What do you like about being an MSL?
I really like about being an MSL, that I’m able to use my scientific background and stay up to date through latest scientific advancements. But also at the same time, I can contribute to patient care by helping healthcare professionals to make informed decisions about treatment options.

•    What is the most difficult thing for you about being an MSL?
HCPs are very busy and therefore, especially at the beginning, it can sometimes be difficult to get appointments and be able to talk to physicians.

•    What is the essential quality of an MSL for you?
I think for an MSL that it is essential to be an excellent communicator and especially to adapt communication to different audiences.

•    What motivates you to get up in the morning as an MSL?
What really motivates me in the morning, is that every day is really different. The job has a lot of variety and you get to meet many different people.

•    What is your most beautiful emotion experienced as an MSL?
It always makes me really happy to hear success stories from physicians who talk about patients who benefited from new therapies.

•    Any words or advice for someone wanting to become an MSL?
My advice would be for someone interested in becoming an MSL to talk to someone who is already experienced as an MSL as he ca give more detailed insights into the daily work and responsibilities.
