On the square in front of the Cathedral, the 8th RPiMA, the town's marine infantry parachute regiment, commanded by Colonnel Tassel, gave military honours to Mr Pierre Fabre in his status as ‘Grand Croix’ in the Order of the Legion of Honour.
The religious service was then performed by Mr Jean Legrez, Archbishop of Albi, Castres and Lavaur. Mr Pierre Fabre's family and his loved ones, as well as Mrs Josiane Chevalier, Tarn Prefect and Mr Pierre-Yves Revol, Vice-Chairman of the Board, paid glowing tributes to him.
The company's employees and inhabitants of the town of Castres – nearly 6,000 people – followed the ceremony on the screens set up in Place Jean-Jaurès, and in this way paid their final respects and expressed their gratitude to Mr Pierre Fabre and his life’s work. The ceremony was broadcast live to employees of all the Group's sites outside the Tarn département, as well as in the 42 foreign subsidiaries.
